A maintenance program starts with an accurate asset inventory. Record each crane's identity, capacity, location, duty, operating intensity, process criticality, maintenance history and available documentation.
Intervals should not be selected by calendar alone. Cycles, load spectrum, shifts, environment and previous findings should shape the task list and frequency. Mechanical, electrical, hoisting, travel, runway and safety functions need defined inspection and maintenance activities.
Emergency response, planned maintenance, condition assessment, critical spares and modernization can be managed as separate workstreams with different priorities and budgets. Statutory periodic inspection remains a separate obligation and should be included in the overall calendar.
